The Vast Difference Between Education Systems Around the WorldWhy is it that depending on where you are born in the World, this will have a massive knock on effect on the level of education you should expect to receive? You can see how many people in the third world would definitely feel that this is very unfair! However, the difference really does not just stop there. Even within the richest countries of the World, there is still a massive contrast in the level of education that person can expect to receive; and as always, it is all a matter of how much money there is in your family and what background you were born in to. Education systems in both the USA and UK are pretty despicable in this regard. Poorer neighbourhoods will always see lower performing schools and it will definitely be the case that less pupils will go on to tertiary education when they leave. As for as joining the top universities (e.g. Oxbridge), well, these types of pupils can pretty much forget it as the doors are rarely open to people from more deprived backgrounds. Of course, these institutions must accept a major chunk of the responsibility for this snobbery, but at the end of the day, it is the relevant Government that is failing to take the necessary action. It is simply not acceptable that the Government allows this practise to continue. Any Government should aim to represent the rights of all of its citizens’, but this is not the case. When you put things into this context, it makes you realise that things haven’t really changed much since Victorian times. Class division really does still exist, despite certain people’s claims that this is becoming less and less of the case. |
